Verle Ruth, 94, of Orient, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield, with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Open visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home.

Verle Ann Ruth was born Nov. 26, 1930, the daughter of Richard and Iva (Armstrong) Christensen in Shelby County. Verle was united in marriage to Dallas Edwin Ruth in 1947 at the home of Dallas’s parents in Adair County. To this union three children were born: Doyle, Beth and Eric. They lived most of their married lives in Adair County. Verle owned and operated Greenfield Florist for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dallas Ruth in 2022; son, Eric Ruth; sisters, Ruthy Christensen and Janelle Evans; brothers, Raymond Christensen and Dwight Christensen and son-in-law, Mark Lanzarotta.
She is survived by her son, Doyle Ruth and wife Polly of Orient; daughter, Beth Lanzarotta of Eugene, Oregon; three grandchildren: Stacey Cass and friend Gary, Travis Ruth and wife Kelli and Eric Woosley and wife Melissa; four great-grandchildren: Christa, Marissa, Kennedy and Carson; one great-great-grandson, Odin; other relatives and friends.
