Adair County Environmental Health has been collecting water quality samples over the last couple of years that they will develop into a map.
Director Jotham Arber told the Adair County Board of Supervisors about the initiative at their meeting Wednesday, Dec. 11.
“You’ll be able to use the map to see where in our counties we have good water and where we have water that’s kind of temperamental,” Arber said. “What that does is when someone comes to us and says I’d like to put in a new well, we can look at that map and [see how the water is there] and say that based on these tests, you have some good water there or you’re going to run into this or that.”
Arber said Environmental Health suggests residents test the water before and after a well rehabilitation.
Part-time hire for Veterans Affairs
Officials with Adair County Veterans Affairs presented a proposal to the supervisors about a part-time position they would like to advertise for. The volume of veterans the office is seeing necessitates the added position.
The position would be 12 hours per week to supplement the work Administrator Gwen Johnston is doing.
While officials had a person in mind, they are required to also post the position.
