Cumberland Rose Players present play
Members of the Cumberland Rose Players will take the stage this weekend in a depiction of the radio play “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Come see friends and family showcase their talent as part of this production.
Shows are 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Warren Cultural Center.
Tickets are $15 for adults and children are free.
Voices Raised children’s choir to perform
The new Voices Raised children’s choir will perform their first annual Christmas concert 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Warren Cultural Center.
Enjoy a mix of traditional holiday songs, sing-alongs and refreshments in this heartwarming celebration of music, youth and community spirit.

Orient library candy sale Dec. 7
Mark your calendars for the annual candy sale sponsored by the Orient Community Library Friends, which will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Farmers and Merchants Bank’s meeting room in Orient.
Delicious homemade candies made by local cooks will be offered, which includes caramels, fudge, peanut brittle, peanut clusters, peanut butter balls, popcorn balls, divinity, chocolate almonds and much more. There will be mixed boxes available with an assortment of candies along with boxes filled with a single kind of candy.
Enter the candy sale through the rear door on the west side of the bank. All candy has been boxed in advance in half-pound and one pound boxes for purchase. Some candy may not be available in both sizes.

Massena soup and salad lunch
The Massena Historical Society’s annual soup and salad luncheon will be held 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 7 in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Hall, 503 Main St., Massena. Doors will open at 11. There is a charge of $10 per person at the door. Soups, salad and beautiful tables are on the menu again this year. The craft room will be filled with baked goods, candies and hand-crafted items perfect for a one-of-a-kind Christmas gifts.
There is a handicap entrance to the basement on the west side of St. Patrick’s. All proceeds from the event will be used for activities of the Massena Historical Society and upkeep of the buildings in the Massena Historical Park.
Richie Lee brings 50s music to WCC
Get ready to rock around the clock with Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s at the Warren Cultural Center 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. This is the fourth show of the WCC’s “All-Iowa” 2024-25 series.
Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50s will take you back to the roots of rock ‘n’ roll history wrapped up into a high energy show. From Des Moines, Lee started out performing at a young age and has had the great opportunity in sharing the stage and opening up for many of the original rock ‘n’ roll greats. The music will sound just as it did back then. The band does their absolute best to stay true to the original sound of the songs. Just to name a few, you will hear music by Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Roy Orbison, Eddie Cochran, the Beatles and many more! Make this a Christmas present to the whole family! The band will add some Christmas songs for this special night of 50s music.

Free Community Meal Dec. 11
Iowa Select Farms, the Adair County Hot Shots 4-H Club, Adair County Fair Board and Cafe on the Hill are teaming up to provide a free community meal 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at the Adair County 4-H/FFA Center.
On the menu is sliced pork loin, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans with bacon, a dessert and a drink.
Dementia Friends class at Greenfield library
You can become a Dementia Friend by attending a one-hour informational session to learn about living with dementia and the simple things you can do to support someone living with dementia. The class is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Greenfield Public Library.

A senior technology class on Google Maps will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at Greenfield Public Library.Google Maps is a mapping application that offers satellite imagery, street maps, street-view perspectives, and route planning.
