Next ‘All-Iowa’ show Oct. 26 at WCC

Chris Patterson comes home to his roots Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Warren Cultural Center on the square in Greenfield. This concert is the second of WCC’s 2024-25 “All-Iowa” series.

Patterson spent a great deal of his youth in Greenfield, as his grandparents were George and Maurece Musmaker. His mother is Ann (Patterson) Musmaker, and his father was Jerry Patterson. Jerry and Ann are both Greenfield graduates. He has many fond memories of the swimming pool, city park, and the square.

Chris Patterson is an award-winning, singer-songwriter who’s called a dozen cities home over the past twenty years. He’s played all over the US and Europe, gracing the stages of venues like The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, SXSW and The Americana Music Festival. He writes songs about the road he’s traveled and the many, many people he’s met along the way. He’s prolific and thoughtful, while giving light to the darkness that lives in us all. He recently released his first solo album, “Too Old To Die Young”.

Chris served as the front-man and songwriter for the Washington, DC based “Leaving, TX” for over a decade, releasing three critically acclaimed albums, two of which broke the top 10 in the Americana Music Charts. He moved to Austin, Texas in the fall of 2009 to focus on songwriting and expanding his career. Chris joined up with Spencer Braly in 2013 to form Great Caesar’s Goat where the two share songwriting duties and vocals for the now Iowa-based band. The two also play shows as an acoustic duo called Goatfeathers. Chris also continues to tour as a solo artist.

He will be joined in Greenfield by Joshua Rex, a multi-instrumentalist who is fast becoming a favorite partner on the stage for Chris’ solo shows. Joshua will be featured on fiddle for this show.

Opening for Patterson and Rex will be “Triple Elvis”. Triple Elvis is an Indi/Alt Rock group from Des Moines who emerged as a therapeutic response to life’s stressors and struggles. Drawing influences from indie and alternative rock, post-punk, indie-folk, and modern indie-pop, with a unique sound is laced with angsty Dad-rock, sporadically invoking the spirit of primal howling sea-shanties.

Members have played in the following Iowa bands: The Sapwoods, Love Songs for Lonely Monsters, ThunderScore, Wolves in the Attic, Spells, Superchad, Circus Fun, and Soothing Syrup.

Purchase tickets at warrenculturalcenter.com or at the door. Adults are $20 and students (high school and younger) are free.
