Doris Daggett, 83, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Doris Daggett, 83, of Greenfield, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield, with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Greenfield. Rev. Dr. Keith Schweitzer will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Visitation, with family greeting friends, will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

Memorials may be directed to the Little Lamb’s Preschool in Greenfield or the Westkirk Presbyterian Church in Urbandale.

Doris June Morrison Daggett was born Sept. 26, 1940. At the age of 3, she became the daughter of William and Amanda (Mensing) Morrison by adoption. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield and has kept her membership there. Her faith in Jesus as her savior remained steady throughout her life.

Doris started her education in country school and graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1959. She spent most of her adult life caring for others, especially the elderly in their homes. She also babysat for working families, worked in dietary at the Adair County Memorial Hospital and did some restaurant work for a time.

Doris was united in marriage to Donald Max Daggett June 13, 1987, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. She moved to Des Moines not long after. She continued to care for elderly people in the Des Moines area.

Doris loved to bowl and looked forward to going to state bowling tournaments. She enjoyed embroidering as a hobby and was known for her excellent fancy work. Many people were the recipients of it. She cheered on the local high school sports teams and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was very fond of pet cats and kittens. She was kind and generous and had many friends she kept in touch with, especially classmates. She always loved spending time with family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Max; her parents; brother, Duane and brothers-in-law, Horace and Brad Daggett.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Patricia Morrison and Ruth Daggett; many nieces and nephews.
