Nancy Lou Fox Arterburn was born on Oct. 4, 1941, to Lawrence and Bernadine Fox in Greenfield. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 4 at her home on the farm in Fontanelle. She attended school at Greenfield High School and graduated in 1959. Her first employment was at Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

On Jan. 22, 1960, wedding bells rang as she married her high school sweetheart, Therald Arterburn. This union was blessed with four children: Jill, Marty, Debbie and Aaron. In fall 1962, Nancy and Therald would move to their present residence south of Fontanelle. This was to be her home for the next 61 years. Nancy was an active partner in their farming operation. She appreciated the natural beauty God provided in the farming life.

As a hobby, her passion was working with her husband refurbishing old high wheel wagons. She was also passionate about faith activities serving as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, catechism teacher, Bible studies, quilting club and choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a faithful member there for her entire life. She never ceased to proclaim through words, actions and life the good news of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness revealed through Jesus. Her faith was a shining light as much as her warm smile. Her trust was in God’s goodness and grace.

She is survived by Therald, her husband of 63 years; daughter, Jill (David) Weed of Houston, Texas; son, Marty Arterburn of Denver, Colorado; daughter Debbie Hannam of Van Meter and son Aaron (Jessica) Arterburn of Ankeny; grandchildren: Rachel, Amanda, Lauren, Jamie, Mark Jr., Luke, Kennedy, Mikayla, Noah and Sam; great-grandchildren Blaire and Charlotte; brothers: Jim Fox and Daniel (Bonnie) Fox, in-laws: Patty Arterburn and Richard (Lorene) Peters; beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; parental in-law; sister, Marj Teel; in-laws Phyllis Fox, Norris and Janice Arterburn, Bob Arterburn, Eyvonne and Bud Ehrsam and niece, Lori Teel.
