‘Let Freedom Ring’ is Massena’s Fourth theme

Massena residents are excited and ready to welcome the entire area to their community for the Fourth of July, July 3-4.

The theme for their celebration this year is “Let Freedom Ring.” It’s been awhile since Massena hosted the celebration, because of the pandemic, so Massena Chamber of Commerce President Brooke Bissell said there’s a lot of buzz and excitement for the event.

“We’re excited to have the Fourth this year,” Bissell said. “It’s nice to have it back in Massena.”

Planning began as early as last fall in Massena and details have begun to come together the closer the event gets. Pre-Fourth of July events last year went so well that Massena is deciding to include them in this year’s event, so there will be two days of fun.

Monday, July 3, will include an Adult Scavenger Hunt. Interested participants can meet at Main Street Bar and Grill. The Massena Fire Department will have a street dance featuring the band ECKO and a bags tournament.

Tuesday’s festivities will start at noon with kids water fights and a free throw contest. Various kids activities will happen in the part beginning at 1 p.m. There will be a pedal pull, Adair Dance Academy performance and Dance Atlantic performance throughout the afternoon as well.

Parade lineup will start at 2 p.m. at the bottom of Main Street near the little league field. The parade will start at 4 p.m. Following the parade will be live music, a beer garden and color run.

A long list of food vendors from around the entire region will be present both days of the event.

Bissell expressed that there’s still a need for volunteers, especially for the many activities going on in the park. People interested in volunteering may contact the Chamber through their Facebook page.

“It will be great to have everyone in Massena,” Bissell said. “We’ve made a lot of upgrades to the town so it will be nice to have people come to town and enjoy our beautiful park and Main Street.”
