Wolverines, Bulldogs assigned to ACGC for state-qualifying track

Area high school track and field squads learned the path they’ll need to travel to make the state track meet Monday when coed state-qualifying meet assignments were released jointly by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

State-qualifying meets are 4 p.m. Thursday, May 11.

Nodaway Valley and Orient-Macksburg are each assigned the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center site in Class 1A. Besides the host Chargers, other schools there will be Ar-We-Va, Audubon, CAM, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Exira-EHK, Glidden-Ralston, Griswold, Heartland Christian, IKM-Manning, Iowa School for the Deaf, Oakland Riverside and Tri-Center, Neola.

Other 1A sites are Edgewood-Colesburg, Belle Plaine, Lawton-Bronson, BGM of Brooklyn, Madrid, North Union, Southwest Valley, Northwood-Kensett and WACO of Wayland.

In Class 1A, the top place winner in each event, plus the next 14 best efforts statewide, qualify in each event for the state track meet. First tiebreaker will be the place of finish. Second tiebreaker will be school name, with the first listed alphabetically winning the spot. The state track meet is May 18-20 at Drake Stadium.
