Tom and Tammy Walk, owners of the Corner Cafe on the west side of the Greenfield square, announced Jesse and Talli Ramey have purchased the business.
The Walks, who opened the restaurant in 2013, explained the sale and transition.
“We want to help them in the success of transitioning as the new owners. Therefore, we will continue to work at the shop a little longer this summer to help in that. We know that the local community will be as accepting and willing to build relationships with them as you were with us. The shop will have a different look to it, but plan on coming in for your favorite coffee drink and breakfast or lunch meal,” Tom said.
The Rameys were not available for comment.
The Walks expanded the business from a small coffee and antique shop to serving breakfast and lunch.
“Some challenges have occurred but blessings have outweighed the struggles. This experience has taught us what community truly means in our small town,” Tom said.
Over time, the Walks enjoyed the relationships developed with customers.
“We look forward to seeing the ‘regulars’ come in on their specific day and are able to fix their favorite drink or food without them actually ordering it. We’ve witnessed when someone could use a helping hand and how those that are able offer what they can. If we haven’t seen someone in a few days, questions are asked on their well-being or if they’re out of town. On some of our busiest days when the dishes are piling up, we’ve had young and old offer to help out,” he said.
Those relationships have made the Corner Cafe what is today.
“Our goal has been for customers to feel at home in the unique atmosphere of our shop and to experience it. Every relationship formed will impact us the rest of our lives,” Tom said.
Tom said he and Tammy have had influences on their future making them sell the business.
“As time has went on, our faith has been calling us to do something else. We desire to travel to see the expanse of God’s creation and to also spend more quality time with our family. In order to accomplish those dreams, we need the freedom from commitment of owning a business,’ he said.
The walks are planning to also travel in a RV and provide a Christian ministry.
“We can definitely say that The Corner Coffee Shop has taught us more about the importance of community, friendships, and relationships than we ever thought possible. We would not trade anything for these past eight years of this time on the Greenfield square. Thanks for sharing in our journey and creating memories. We’re excited for what is in store for our next adventure.”
