Cleo Gipple

Cleo Gipple, 88, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021. She was born near Stuart to Charles Leo and Lura Nelson Wagner.

A 1951 graduate of Greenfield, Cleo was united in marriage to Larry Gipple later that year. They resided in Des Moines, the Quad Cities, as well as Charlotte, North Carolina.

Finding enjoyment at the Davenport YMCA, Cleo served on their board of directors for many years. Upon relocation to Charlotte, Cleo became the vice president of education at Design Group.

Cleo is survived by Larry, her loving husband of 69 years; their four children: Connie (Steven), Catherine (James), Nancy (Charles) and Tom; grandchildren Michael and Ann; along with many nieces and nephews, as well as Larry’s surviving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

Cleo was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed.

The family is planning a visitation with relatives and friends at Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield at a later date, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield, and interment in Greenfield Cemetery.
