Maple Joy Green, known to everyone as Joy, was born Sept. 1, 1923, the daughter of George and Lydia Bertha (Ramsey) Warrior in Adair County. She passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at her home in Fontanelle at the age of 97.
Joy was raised in Adair County and graduated from Fontanelle High School. On Dec. 26, 1944, Joy was united in marriage to Arthur Green at First Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs. To this union five children were born: Robert, Cathy, Ronald, Randy and Rodney.
Joy held many jobs throughout her life, but she was also a homemaker to her children when they were younger. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends. She was a great cook and pies were her specialty, just ask her family and friends. Joy loved her grandchildren immensely and looked forward to their visits. She was an avid sports fan and especially loved her Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Green; a sister Eleanor Burg; two brothers: Larry Warrior and Bob Warrior; a daughter-in-law Kathy Green of Austin, Texas.
She is survived by four sons: Robert of Norwalk, Ronald Green (Zoe) of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Randy Green of Austin, Texas, Rodney Green of Myakka City, Florida; one daughter Cathy Clock (Dennis) of Alden; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
