Creston

Terry Mullin, 71, of Creston died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020, at his home. A celebration of life memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on the Powers Funeral Home Facebook page. Social distancing will be necessary. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. In lieu of flowers, direct memorials to the Parks and Recreation Little League Baseball and the Greater Regional Health Cancer Center. Terry Lee Mullin, son of Rex P. Mullin and Dorothy L. (Richardson) Mullin, was born June 21, 1949, in Creston. He graduated from Creston High School in 1967, studied two years at Southwestern Community College and finished his B.A. in Business at Northwest Missouri State University. Terry worked at the Creston post office during high school.

On Jan. 11, 1983, Terry married Carolyn Tuttle in Creston. They made their home in Orient. Terry worked with his father Rex in operating Creston Roofing and Siding. The business began in 1946, Terry was the second generation to operate it, and his son Ronnie has continued it as Terry’s health has deteriorated. Terry and Carolyn divorced in 1992.

In 1992, Terry met Pam Bangston and they have been together since, living and working in Creston. Terry and his family have served and been a part of the Creston community, proudly, for years. Terry was very involved in the men’s softball league for years and the men’s bowling league for over 45 years. Terry also was a big fan of the Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Terry had been affiliated with the Creston United Presbyterian Church and the Eagles Lodge No. 1398 of Creston.

Survivors include Terry’s significant other, Pam Greenwalt; a son, Ronnie (Jennifer) Mullin of Orient; three step sons, Brent Knedler of Brighton, Colorado, Ashton (Billie Jo) Greenwalt of Creston and Blake (Judy) Gunter of Creston; a step-daughter, Shelby (Terry) Freeman of Creston; his sister, Denise Mullin of Mount Ayr; his sister-in-law, Marsha Mullin of Newton; three grandchildren, Rayden, Rexton and Rahzalyn Mullin; five step grandchildren, Jordon and Jayden Knedler, Gannon Greenwalt, Ethan and Abby Freeman; nephew, Jamie Mullin and niece Michelle (Mike) Gerdes; great-niece and nephew, Erin and John Gerdes.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rod Mullin in 2008.
