Fridays after Five (Fridays)

Elks Lodge will feature a different musical artist 5:08 to 7:08 p.m. Fridays until Sept. 4.

Greater Regional opens Medical Arts Plaza entrance (July 20)

The Medical Arts Plaza entrance at Greater Regional Health now open to the public. The MAP entrance, located on the east side of the building, has a drive-up for pick-ups and drop-offs. Volunteers will be at the entrance to help assist patients at this time. All arrivals will be screened and encouraged to wear masks. Test Iowa patients are asked to use the new urgent care vestibule. The main entrance is still available to use. For more information, visit www.greaterregional.org.

Taylor County Fair horse show (July 22)

The Taylor County Fair horse show has been postponed to July 22.

Uptown Story Walk, Scavenger Hunt and A ‘Ducky Walk Around Town’ (July 23 & 30)

Iowa History 101 – Iowans at Play: Iowa State Fair (July 23)

Join the State Historical Society of Iowa for an online series about Iowans of the past at work, home and play. For this episode, State Curator Leo Landis will share a few stories from “the best state fair in our state.” Register at https://bit.ly/2WOt1Du.

Fridays after Five (July 24)

The concert series held on the east lawn of the Elks Lodge will feature a different musical artist each Friday from 5:08 to 7:08 p.m. until Sept. 4. This week’s musical guest will be Abby Hullinger, and will be sponsored by Berning Inc. and Creston Archery Team.

Dragoon Trace Nature Center girls only ‘youth lock-in’ (July 24)

Ringgold County Conservation is hosting a girls-only “youth lock-in” at Dragoon Nature Center, 5 p.m. July 24 to 7:30 a.m. July 25. This is for girls aged 11 to 15 years old. This program is free and sponsored by AmeriCorps.

Multiple activities are offered including fishing/pond study, geocaching, water games, art and nature craft, movie/popcorn fun and more. Participants should bring their own sleeping bags and pillows, bedtime clothing and other personal items. Food will be provided for Friday supper and Saturday breakfast along with snacks. Please notify us of any food requirements or allergies during registration.

Register with Ringgold County Conservation at 641-464-2787 or Ringgoldccb@ringgoldcounty.us by 4 p.m. July 23. There must be a minimum of five participants for the event to go ahead. Legal guardians must sign a release form when dropping off students.

Front Porch Fridays (July 24)

Hometown Insurance and Realty is hosting a free hot dog lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on its east porch. Hot dog lunch complete with a bag of chips and a water. Come and go as you please. It is requested that social distancing guidelines be followed.
