Ronald Horn, 58, of Des Moines, formerly of the Greenfield and Orient areas, died Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Doug Brunell will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be private. Ronald Eugene Horn was born Dec. 28, 1961, in Creston to LeRoy Claus Horn and Marion Kay (Henry) Horn. He was educated in Orient-Macksburg schools.
On June 9, 1984, Ron married Laura Jeanne McDowell in Macksburg. They lived and worked in the Creston area. Ron did a wide range of different work. He did roofing work for many years. Ron also did welding for years. Laura and Ron divorced in 1994. Ron was living in the Des Moines.
Survivors include three daughters: Mandy McDowell of Des Moines, Rochsi Rhea of Arkansas and Ashley Horn of Des Moines; a son Tyler (Dijana) Horn of Des Moines; his ex-wife Laura Rowe of Des Moines; mother Marian Horn of Orient; sister Patricia Savage of Creston; brother Glen Horn of Orient; 10 grandchildren: Michaela McDowell, Caleb Branham, Aubreanna McDowell-McKee, Turner and Layla Rhea, Allizae Reed, Ayden Horn, Aizlynn Thomas-Horn, Xavier and Maleck Horn.
He was preceded in death by his father LeRoy Horn.
