John Hartsaw Jr., 43, of Creston, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, no service or visitation will be held at this time. Memorial services will be held at a later date. John Duane Hartsaw Jr. was born June 4, 1976, in Nebraska, to John Duane Hartsaw Sr. and Nancy Lee (Straw) Hartsaw. He was educated in Creston schools in his early years. He lived in Lumberton, Miss. from 1995 until returning to the Creston area in 2004. John lived in the Corning, Creston and Prescott areas. He worked at the Windrow Restaurant in Creston as a cook for over 15 years. John also had worked with a pig operation in the Kent area and for Ferrara Candy of Creston.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather Nancy and Doug Embree of Creston; five daughters: Charikee Prosser, Shyann Prosser, Cathy Prosser, all of Hattiesburg, Miss., Katiana Hartsaw of Prescott and O’Leaha; one son Jareth of Iowa; two sisters: April (Keith) Jackson of Fontanelle and Danielle Embree of Missouri; two sisters/nieces: Destiny Sechser of Fontanelle and Trinity Smith of Creston; and one grandson Brantley Prosser.
He was preceded in death by his biological father, grandparents Moe and Marian Embree and Beverly (McCann) Straw and Donald Straw.
