Axne to hold town hall, mental health roundtable March 16

MOUNT AYR — Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) will host a roundtable with state, county, and local stakeholders Monday, March 16, on the challenges and initiatives related to supporting the mental health of Iowa’s rural communities.

The roundtable will include representatives from the Iowa Psychological Association, Iowa Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Iowa Behavioral Health Association, the National Alliance on Mental Illness and health and law enforcement officials from Ringgold, Adair, Taylor and Union counties.

Axne will also host a “Connect with Your Congresswoman” town hall in Corning to provide local Iowans an opportunity to meet the Congresswoman, ask questions regarding her work in Washington, and discuss concerns facing local communities.

The town hall will be held 1 p.m. March 16 at Corning Winery, 2300 IA-148, Corning, and will be Rep. Axne's 64th town hall since coming to Congress. Axne was recently highlighted by the Town Hall Project for holding more public town halls than any other freshman Member of Congress in 2019.

The rural mental health roundtable will be held 3:45 p.m. at Ringgold County Public Health, 119 S. Fillmore St., Mount Ayr.
