Jeanne was born in Ringsted Aug. 29, 1927, the only daughter born to Edward and Helen Josephine (Paugh) Crane. Jeanne was only two years old when her father, Edward, passed away. At the age of five, Jeanne’s mother Helen married John Schilling who cared for and helped to raise Mary Jeanne. Although John never adopted Mary Jeanne, he was the only father she ever knew. Jeanne graduated from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1945. Following graduation, Jeanne attended Broadlawns School of Nursing, graduating with her nursing degree in 1948.

Jeanne’s first job as a registered nurse was at the V.A. Hospital in Des Moines. It was there that she met Robert Emmett Tedrow. One year and three months later, Mary Jeanne and Robert moved to the state of Maine. The couple was united in holy matrimony on Jan. 8, 1949, in Des Moines. Seven children would be born to bless their union. The young family would return to Iowa in May of 1952 and Jeanne promptly began working for Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. The family would relocate to Creston May of 1965 and Jeanne began her employment at Greater Community Hospital. Jeanne worked as the head nurse in the I.C.U., retiring in 1988.

In retirement, Jeanne devoted her time volunteering at the Re-Run Shop in Creston. In 1991, she served as a Missionary Nurse, volunteering in Mexico. Jeanne was a long-time and active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and served as Secretary for the Catholic Daughters of America. Jeanne also volunteered on the St. Malachy School P.T.A. She was an avid reader and avid bridge card player. Jeanne loved to quilt and made quilts for each of her grandchildren. She was a member of the “Our Day Off Club” and she never spoke a bad word about anyone. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Jeanne in death was her husband Robert in July 1990; a son Kirk Douglas Tedrow in 1966; a granddaughter, Erin Putzier in 2008; her father Edward Crane in 1928; her mother, Helen in 1984; step-father John Schilling in 1989; her brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Betty Schilling and her brother Donald Schilling.
