Diagonal 58, Melcher-Dallas 51
GARDEN GROVE – Diagonal beat Melcher-Dallas 58-51 in consolation for the Bluegrass Conference tournament Thursday night.
Diagonal had a nine-point lead entering halftime, expanding the lead into the fourth before Melcher-Dallas gained six points back. The Maroons held on for the win, improving to 9-8.
Kade Klommhaus exploded for 29 points in the win, grabbing 26 rebounds in a career night. Tyler Jarred and Clayton Hansen scored nine points each, with Jarred grabbing five rebounds and Hansen assisting five scores.
Twin Cedars 57, Orient-Macksburg 29
BUSSEY – Twin Cedars routed Orient-Macksburg 57-29 Thursday.
O-M trailed TC 34-15 entering halftime and gradually had the game slip out of reach in the third quarter.
Tyson Ross led in scoring with 15 points. Blake Thompson scored seven points, Wiley Ray scored four and Derek Gross scored three.
Ankeny Christian 64, Murray 48
MOULTON – Murray lost in the semifinals of the Bluegrass Conference basketball tournament Thursday night against Ankeny Christian, falling 64-48.
Murray trailed by five entering halftime at 32-27 and was unable to pull the margin back in the second half as ACA pulled away.
Reece Held scored 12 points, leading the team. Kegan Johnson and Colton Siefkas each scored nine points.
Murray 70, Seymour 43
MOULTON – Murray rolled through Seymour in the Bluegrass Conference tournament Saturday, placing third in the conference tourney with the win.
A 27-10 first quarter set the tone for Murray as it held a comfortable lead from start to finish. The Mustangs closed out the game with a 20-10 fourth quarter.
Held scored 23 points, going 9 of 19 from the field with eight rebounds and six assists. Siefkas scored 21 points, grabbing 11 rebounds for a double-double. Johnson also scored 12 points in the blowout win.
Lenox 52, Wayne 50
WAYNE – Lenox bounced back after a loss Thursday night with a 52-50 win over Wayne Friday night.
The Tigers were led in scoring by Colton Vieux’s 12 points and Cullen Wood’s 11 points. Keaton England had five assists to lead the team and Rex Hoffman grabbed six rebounds, also to lead the Tigers.
Nodaway Valley 69, Earlham 59
GREENFIELD – Nodaway Valley picked up a 69-59 win over Earlham Saturday for its fourth consecutive win.
Earlham jumped out early with a 21-18 first quarter, but the Wolverines took the lead behind a 23-point second quarter. Taking a 41-32 lead to start the second half, Nodaway Valley continued to roll in the third quarter.
NV outscored Earlham with a 17-9 third quarter. Earlham made an 18-11 run in the final frame, but the Wolverines did enough early to keep the lead.
Clay Hohertz put up 23 points to lead the team. Toby Bower scored 13 and grabbed eight rebounds with four steals.
Nodaway Valley 87, Southeast Warren 39
LIBERTY CENTER – Nodaway Valley routed Southeast Warren 87-39 Friday.
The Wolverines jumped out quick, taking a 27-7 lead in the first quarter. NV continued the offensive attack, scoring 20 or more points in the first three quarters. Defensively, the Wolverines held SEW to single-digit scoring in the first, third and fourth quarters.
Tyler Vandewater put up 21 points with three 3-pointers. Josh Baudler scored 17 with four assists and three steals.
Wayne 36, Southwest Valley 34
WAYNE – Wayne narrowly beat Southwest Valley Thursday night, topping the Timberwolves 36-34.
Southwest Valley was led in scoring by Tucker Tepoel’s 16 points and seven rebounds, both team-high.
Garrett Marn and Adam Harris scored six and five points, respectively.
Mount Ayr 78, East Union 32
MOUNT AYR – Mount Ayr routed East Union Friday night in a 78-32 blowout.
Mount Ayr led 34-7 after the first quarter, enough of a lead for East Union to never recover.
Dawson Frost scored a game-high 24 points for the Raiders and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Jaixen Frost scored 17 points and Payton Weehler scored 15 points.

East Union 73, Southeast Warren 57
AFTON – East Union beat Southeast Warren Thursday night, winning 73-57.
The Eagles outscored SEW in every quarter but the the second, rolling to the win after holding a 13-point lead at the end of the first frame.
Cale Ecklund, Scott Driskill and Alex Carrigan each scored 14 points. Kael Seales led the team in scoring with 19 points.
