Janice Hill, 73, of Afton died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at the EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Celebration of life memorial services will be scheduled for a later date. Memorials are to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.powersfh.com.
Janice Mary Hill, daughter of Wayne Charles Harris and Doris Lillie (Dogget) Harris was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Cambridge, England. She grew up in Cambridge and graduated from high school there before moving to the United States in 1964.
In 1967, Janice married Robert L. Hill. They settled in San Diego, California, where she worked as a homemaker and later ran a day care with her daughter. They later owned and operated a storage facility in the greater Los Angeles, California, area.
In April of 2001 they moved to Afton where Janice worked a variety of part time jobs including day care, working at Rusks, Sugar and Spice, 4-Sons, Lake Shore Golf and Country Club, Casey’s and Hy-Vee. Janice was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Janice is survived by her children: Alissa Schmitz of Afton, (Randy Smith) of Greenfield, Tara Harris of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jeffrey (Heather) Hill of Afton; eight grandchildren: Amanda Schmitz (John Williams), Hunter Schmitz (Sonia Topin), Kyle Schmitz, Lexi Schmitz, Charlie Wight, Ethan Hill, Brittany Paxson and Collin Hill; one great-grandchild; siblings: Adrian (Jackie) Harris, Steven (Clairer) Harris and Elizabeth (Allan) Walton all of Cambridge, England, and Rick (Wanda) Roland of Shoeneck, Pennsylvania.
Janice was preceded in death by her father and mother and her husband Robert Hill.
