Doris Hayes, 92, of Creston, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola. Celebration of life services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. David Hayes will officiate. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, before the service. Memorials may be directed to the family at 1111 N. Sycamore St., Creston, Iowa 50801. Doris Helen Hayes was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Creston to Evelyn Chole (Miller) Reish and Ivan William Reish. Doris was educated at Creston High School.

On Nov. 27, 1948, Doris married Clifford Leroy Hayes in Muscatine, where they settled and lived for the next 20 years raising their family of five children. Moving to Oskaloosa, she earned her license as a nurse aid and worked for Pleasant Park Care Center. In 1990, following her retirement, Doris moved to Carthage, Missouri. Following Clifford’s death, Doris moved to Pella in 2008. Doris has lived with her daughter Gayle since 2007, moving with her to Creston in 2016. Doris moved to Crest Haven Care Center in May 2019 and to Osceola in October.

Doris was former member of the Oskaloosa Assembly of God Church, then attended the Harvey Assembly of God Church.

Doris is survived by her two sons David (Mary) Hayes of Lohrville and Glenn (Jennifer) Hayes of Weeki Wachee, Florida.; a daughter Gayle Hayes of Creston; four grandchildren, Jerod (Tina) Hayes and Matthew (Katie) Hayes, both of Fort Dodge, Kelly Hayes Wolf of Madrid and Casey Hayes of Des Moines; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford in 2007, two infant children Julie Ann Hayes and Andrew Leroy Hayes, a grandson Cody Hayes and a sister, Fern (Vernon) Lyons and two nephews Greg Lyons and Dean Anderson.
