Donald Brunell, 85, of Creston, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Celebration of life memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Abundant Life Family Church, 500 S. Oak Street in Creston. Richard Madison will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery in Vining, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Abundant Life Family Church, P.O. Donald Verdell Brunell, son of Claude Brunell and Opal (Nelson) Brunell, was born on Jan. 13, 1934, in Butterfield, Missouri. He graduated from Clifton Rural High School in Clifton, Kansas, in 1952. He later attended Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, graduating in 1978.
Donald married Shirley Ilene (McKellips) July 7, 1952, in Liberal, Kansas. Donald ministered in Coweta, Oklahoma and Pomeroy. He also was a salesman for furniture, salt, feed and manufactured homes.
Donald was a member of the Abundant Life Family Church in Creston and a former member of the Jaycees.
Donald is survived by his son, Doug (Joan) Brunell of Creston; daughter Dawn (Dan) O’Flinn of Ruskin, Florida; grandchildren: Aaron Brunell, Ashley (Matt) Dingman, Crista Brunell, Austin Brunell, Mandie (O’Flinn) Brunell, Hilary (Chad) Heim and Brandon O’Flinn; two great-granddaughters; siblings: Eugene (Connie) Brunell of Clifton, Kansas and Joy Wunderle of Clifton, Kansas.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons: Daniel (VaLou) Brunell and Darin Brunell, siblings Edward (Lorraine) Brunell and Phyllis Ann Holiday, and brother-in-law Marty Wunderle.
