Harlan Brown, 91, of Creston died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2019, at Creston Specialty Care.
Celebration of life memorial visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1:30 pm Friday with family present noon to 1:30 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Harlan D. Brown, son of Cornelius “Bud” Brown and Sylvia Norene (Chandler) Brown, was born July 15, 1928, in Union County.
Harlan married Lila Lee (Hutchinson) Brown in Prescott. They first lived near Diagonal and then near Cromwell, where they farmed. Moving to Creston in 1960, they bought Brown’s Mayflower Moving & Storage. They operated the business until 1973, when they sold it and went back to farming and cabinet making until1992.
Harlan was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Creston.
Harlan is survived by his son Michael (Ronda) Brown of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson Brock (Kate) Brown of Lawrence, Kansas; 2 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Mara Lou Jeter of Creston and Sharon Sobotka of Diagonal.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Buddy Brown.
