Ava Kepner Chubick, 79, of Creston passed away at Lenox Care Center on Nov. 2, 2019. Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the St Jude's Hospital and American Cancer Society. Ava Mae Kepner Chubick was born March 6, 1940, in Creston to Addison “Dutch” Kepner and Florence A. (Dady) Kepner. She grew up in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in 1958.
That same year Ava was united in marriage to Keith Dyer. They moved to California in 1960 and they divorced in 1963.
On June 1, 1963, Ava was united in marriage to Francis A. “Frank” Force. They lived in California until 1986 when they moved to Florida. Ava worked 25 years as a Bank of America manager and later managed the Avon Park Medical Clinic in Avon Park, Florida. Frank died in Feb. 2010.
On July 22, 2010, Ava was united in marriage to Marion E. Chubick in Cromwell. They spent their summers in Creston and their winters in Florida until Ava suffered a debilitating stroke in 2016, at which time they settled in Creston.
Ava was cared for by her beloved husband Marion until they both entered the Lenox Care Center shortly before he passed away in July of 2019.
Ava is survived by her sister Lela “Lee” Bettis and brother-in-law Brad Bettis of Wichita Falls, Texas; nephew Brian Bass (Rebecca) of Wichita Falls, Texas; niece Heather Strickland (Scott) of Satsuma, Alabama; great nephews and nieces Logan Bass, Reagan Strickland, Emily Strickland, Ava Radillo and Ethan Radillo; and step-sons John Chubick (Chris), Mark Chubick (Verleta) and Luke Chubick (Dawn) and their families.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her second husband Frank Force and her loving husband Marion Chubick.
