Arlen Witt, 63, of Macksburg, died Monday, August 26, 2019, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. A celebration of life memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Macksburg United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Moon Cemetery south of Macksburg. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Aug. 29, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. Arlen Lee Witt, son of Russell E. and Leila A. (Wheeler) Witt, was born on July 19, 1956, in Winterset. He graduated from East Union High School in Afton in 1974. Arlen then worked at Jimmy Dean’s in Osceola.
On August 23, 1975, Arlen married Barbara Eivins in Macksburg. They lived and worked in the Macksburg area. Arlen went on to work at the Co-op Gas Station in Lorimor. Next, he hired on with the railroad. Arlen and Barb divorced in the late 1990s.
Arlen is survived by his significant other, Brenda Bishop; sons: Matt Witt of Afton, Drew (Crystal) Witt of Winterset, Travis (Jennifer) Witt of Macksburg and Brad (Diane Goering) Witt of Winterset; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister LeAnn (Greg) Tucker of Winterset; two brothers: Gary Witt of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Larry (Kay) Witt of Thayer; and many other nieces, nephews and other family.
Arlen was preceded in death by his parents grandson Zane Witt.
