Christopher Tucker, 47, of rural Bridgewater died Sunday, June 16, 2019, at his childhood home.
Funeral services were 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greenfield with burial in Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel at a later date with full military graveside rites by Greenfield American Legion Head-Endres Post No. 265 and V.F.W. Post No. 5357. The Rev. James Ahenkora will officiate the service. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Christopher Tucker memorial fund to be determined. Steen Funeral Home, 101 SE Fourth St., in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements. Christopher Louis Tucker, son of Leo and Joyce (Hogan) Tucker, was born Feb. 12, 1972, in Des Moines. After high school graduation from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School in 1990, he joined the United States Navy during Desert Storm War Time. While in the Navy, Chris was an Airman E3 with Squadron VP-17 and flew in a P3 Orion plane where they tracked submarines by using sonar. Chris was an aviation anti-submarine warfare operator. He was stationed in Orlando, Florida, Pensacola, Florida, Millington, Tennessee, San Diego, California, Mountain View, California, Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory, Masirah, Oman, Barbers Point, Hawaii, and Misawa, Japan.
After the Navy, Chris moved to Des Moines where he resided before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where he worked as a DJ for several years at The Maxx and then as a warehouse worker for RNDC. After being diagnosed with adrenal cancer, he moved back to his childhood home.
Chris is survived by his mother Joyce Tucker; brother Curt Tucker of Panora; sister Melissa (Eric) Woosley of Redfield; niece Jessica (Mike) Wormley; nephew Trevor (Brooke) Tucker; great-nephew Casen Tucker; great-nieces, Bria Wormley and Lennyn Tucker; other relatives and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his father Leo Tucker, sister-in-law Becky Tucker, aunt JoAnn Hogan and cousin Brian Morrison.
