Crystal Weeks, 55, of Macksburg died Monday, June 10, 2019, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Time of sharing service will be 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., in Afton. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Afton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family. Crystal Kay (Shady) Weeks, daughter of Forrest Dale Shady and Nellie Joyce (Edwards) Shady, was born Sept. 22, 1963, in Iowa City. She graduated from Paton-Churdan High School with the class of 1982.

On March 22, 1982, Crystal married John Lundy Weeks at Dodge Center Church near Afton. They first made their home north of Afton. In 1985 they moved to Adair County, where they lived for 18 years. Crystal worked at Wellman Dynamics in Creston for 18 years. They bought a farm in Madison County near Macksburg in 2001, where Crystal and John currently resided. Crystal owned and operated a custom leather goods business called Lighting W. Leather for many years. She also worked for Bunn-O-Matic in Afton for the past 10 years.

Crystal is survived by her husband John; sons, Lundy Weeks of Hillman, Minnesota, Joshua (fiancée Tosha) Weeks of Winterset and Dakota (fiancée Tonya) Weeks of Macksburg; stepson Kyle (Angela) Eaton of Macksburg; grandchildren, Braxton and Bohdi Weeks and Elizabeth Eaton, and many others by association; brothers, Ron (Patricia) Shady of Cincinnati, Craig (Mary) Shady of Marshall, Texas, and Russ (Donna) Shady of Gowrie; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Crystal was preceded in death by her brothers, Marty “Shade,” Randy Shady and one at birth.
