O-M middle school track state qualifiers

Orient-Macksburg sent a group of junior high runners to the state track meet Saturday, May 4.

Participating in the event was Emily Campbell, Christa Cass, Gavyn Abell, Izzy Pierce, Tyson Ross and Nathaniel Blazek.

Emily Campbell finished 14th in the 100 meter dash in 15.44 and 17th in the 200 meter dash in 33.45.

Christa Cass ran in four events, with her best finish in eighth in the 800 meter run in 2:44. She also was 10th in the 100 meter dash (14.56), 11th in the 1,500 meter run (5:54) and 16th in the long jump (13-10).

Gavyn Abell took 17th in both the 100 meter dash (14.05) and the 200 meter dash (28.63).

Izzy Pierce was sixth in the 200 meter run (27.17), eighth in the 400 meters (1:01.12) and 16th in the long jump, leaping 14 feet, 6 inches.

Tyson Ross took fifth in both the 100 meter dash (12.77) and high jump (5-2) before taking sixth in the 200 meter dash (26.31).

Nathaniel Blazek was 16th in the 100 meter dash (14.02), 19th in the long jump (13-11) and 14th in the 200 meter dash (29.18).

Pierce, Blazek, Abell and Ross competed in the 4x100 meter relay, taking seventh in a time of 52.85.
