James Dowler

Essex Junction, Vt.

James B. Dowler died on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont.

James “Jim” Dowler travelled the world and lived all over the U.S.A., but he always had Iowa in his heart. He was born Nov. 14, 1931, in Jones County, Iowa. He grew up in Lorimor and attended Lorimor High School, where he graduated in 1949.

When he was in his 20’s, he joined the Air Force. Through the Air Force, he travelled all over the U.S. and was stationed in Japan twice, where he met his wife, Toshiko. He retired from the Air Force after more than 20 years. After the Air Force, he moved to Omaha, Nebraska, and then Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, he worked at the Milwaukee Road Trucking division as a load dispatcher and then at Speigel as a packaging engineer. After Speigel, he really retired.

He is survived by his wife Toshiko, his son Scot, his daughter Theresa and his grandchildren, Liam, Ellie and Ben.

He was preceded in death by his father Benjamin Joseph, his mother Lillian, and his half siblings, Joe, Marie, Harold and Hazel.
