As you realize, my health challenges have significantly limited the amount of energy I have to dedicate to the responsibilities of my position. Through all my health challenges over the past two years, your caring, support and resolve have been unwavering. You will never know how much my family and I have appreciated this. Your support and prayers along with so many from our staff, students and community members have truly made a positive impact on my attitude and on my health. This community is extraordinary when it comes to rallying in support of folks when adversity strikes, and I certainly have experienced this blessing firsthand.
Unfortunately, health-wise I have reached a point where I cannot do this position justice. I continue to receive top-notch treatments and great health care, but I now need to focus more on my health than my work. That may seem very simple, but this adjustment is extremely difficult for me. The Creston Community School District, our students and our entire community deserve leadership and energy beyond what I can provide at this time. Please receive this letter as my formal notice of retirement and resignation from the position of superintendent of schools effective June 30, 2019.
Together as an entire school district, we have accomplished a lot over recent years and there are many achievements just ahead on the horizon. It continues to be an honor and a privilege to work with you, our staff and our community in the service of our local youngsters and their learning. I couldn’t be prouder of our school system and the learning opportunities we provide students each day. I also couldn’t be prouder to be a Panther!
Onward and upward!
