Marilyn Blazek, 83, of Prescott died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at EveryStep Hospice Home in Creston.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston. The Rev. Mary O'Riley will officiate. Open visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bohemian National Cemetery in rural Prescott. Marilyn Jane Blazek, daughter of Elmer Edwin and Myrtle Victoria (Westenburg) Wager, was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Creston. Marilyn graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1954.
On Dec. 9, 1956, Marilyn married Edward B. Blazek at the Methodist Church in Creston. Following her marriage, Marilyn began selling Avon and was an Avon representative for more than 20 years. She worked for Lloyd Berry at Supreme Cleaners for many years, until the business sold. Marilyn worked more than 20 years at Wal-Mart, mostly as a cashier.
Marilyn was a member of First United Methodist Church in Creston and Beta Sigma Phi.
Marilyn is survived by her husband Edward Blazek of Prescott; daughter Cindy Shelley of Creston; son Scott Blazek of Prescott; grandchildren, Cara Truitt (George Weiland) of Ankeny, Chase Blazek (Macie Cline) of Creston and Dean Blazek of Prescott; daughter-in-law Tresa Blazek of Prescott; step-grandchildren, Stacy Danielson, Shelby (Philip) Priest and Shannon Andreasen; great-grandson Edward Truitt; three step-great-grandchildren; niece Karen (Duncan) Everhart of Alum Bank, Pennsylvania; nephew Richard Roberts of Normal, Illinois; several great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, son Steve Blazek in 2017, sister Gwen (Art) Roberts and nephew Mark Roberts.
