Helen A. Harvey, 84, of Omaha, Nebraska, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 107 W. Howard St., in Creston with the Rev. Kenneth Halbur Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Creston. Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Helen Ann Harvey, daughter of Edward Thomas Harvey Sr. and Loretta Mary Howe Harvey, was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Creston. She was raised in Creston. Helen was educated at St. Malachy School in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in 1952. She graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She furthered her education with postgraduate studies at University of Nebraska in Omaha and Drake University in Des Moines.
Helen was an elementary school teacher in Omaha, Nebraska, from 1954 to 1993, teaching at St. Patrick’s School, St. Cecilia’s School, Long School and Conestoga School. She also served as a demonstration teacher and cooperating teacher for many student teachers.
Helen was a member of St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska.
Helen is survived by her brother Edward (Donna) Harvey of Creston; nieces, Ann Harvey of Asheville, North Carolina, Sheila (Greg) Parks of Shelbyville, Indiana, and Loretta Harvey (Aaron Finch) of Creston; great-nieces, Cara Parks and Briana Parks; great-nephew Stuart Parks; great-great-niece Myla Parks; great-great-nephew Oliver Parks; special longtime friend Mary Beth McKee and many friends, cousins and students.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Sarah Joan (Sadie) Harvey, many cousins, aunts and uncles.
