Joyce Reimer, 87, of Creston died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at First Presbyterian Church in Creston. The Rev. Cyndy Ripperger will officiate. Burial will be held privately prior to the service in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church in Creston. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Joyce Colleen (Gourley) Reimer, daughter of Asbury Floyd Gourley and Ferne Lucille (Hyde) Gourley, was born July 28, 1931, in Morton Mills.
On Nov. 27, 1948, Joyce married Bernard Herman Reimer in Mount Ayr. She graduated from Clearfield High School with the class of 1949. Together, they farmed south of Creston, where Joyce was a homemaker and also helped Herman with the farming. Herman died in 1991, and in 1993, Joyce moved into town. In 2017, she relocated to Urbandale.
Joyce was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Creston.
Joyce is survived by her children, Kathryn Reimer of Urbandale, Douglas (Barb) Reimer of Lincoln, Nebraska, Patty Hemphill (husband John Terry) of Clive, Roxanne (Kris) Kucharski of Urbandale and Brian (Jo Ann) Reimer of Marion; daughter-in-law Heidi Reimer of Brandon, South Dakota; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and brother Jack (Phyllis) Gourley of Lenox.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman, son Alvin Reimer and daughter Bonnie Elmore.
