LaVerna Marie Wesack, 83, formerly of Greenfield, was called home on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, in Bloomingdale, Illinois.
Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Illinois, with Rev. Dr. Charles S. Mueller Jr. officiating. Gravesite services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Greenfield Cemetery, south gate, southwest corner, followed by visitation with the family at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 505 NE Dodge St., in Greenfield. Dr. Keith W. Schweitzer will officiate.
LaVerna Marie Wesack was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Syracuse, Nebraska, to Edwin and Ella Hoepker; sister of Elton, Orville, Al, Kenneth and Robert, all whom have preceded her in heaven.
LaVerna was raised in Orient on the family farm with her five brothers, and attended school in Zion. Upon graduation, she started working at First National Bank in Creston, and was united in marriage to Harold Wesack Jr. at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Creston on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1956.
They moved to Casey in 1956 and in 1961, they moved to Greenfield. LaVerna was a stay-at-home mom until 1972, and she began working at Adair County Mutual Insurance, Don Carlos Law Firm and Wesack Body Shop. In 1996, she retired and moved to Bloomingdale, Illinois.
LaVerna is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harold Wesack Jr. of Bloomingdale, Illinois; children, Diane Rostenkowski (Michael) of Bloomingdale, Illinois, and David Wesack of Marengo, Illinois, and grandsons, Ryan Rostenkowski and Tyler Rostenkowski.
