Dean McIntire, 86, of Creston, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at his home at Homestead in Creston under the care of HCI Hospice.
Celebration of Life Memorial Sharing time will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Delores Doench will help facilitate. A private burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Powers Funeral Home. Donald Dean McIntire, son of Neil Wilson McIntire and Leona Beatrice (Reed) McIntire, was born near Kent in Union County on April 1, 1932. He was educated in country school, Kent and graduated from Cromwell High School in 1950. Dean continued to farm with his dad northeast of Kent.
On July 27, 1952, Dean married Dorothy L. Harrison in Cromwell. The couple had five children. They lived and farmed in Union and Ringgold counties for many years, moving south of Creston in 1994. Over the years, Dean also sold PALCO Livestock equipment.
Dean had been a member of the Cromwell Congregational Church, later joining the Platte Center Church. He was formerly a member of the Creston Elks and the Creston Eagles. Dean was active with the Union County Fair for about 70 years.
Dean is survived by his wife Dorothy; two daughters, Barb (Mike) Gallagher of Lucas and Patti (Keith) Blevins of Creston; three sons, Roger (Michelle) McIntire of Creston, Kenny (Barb) McIntire of Conway, Missouri, and Monty (Roxann) McIntire of Afton; nine grandchildren: Clint (Polly), Cory (Tara) and Cody Luther, Cameron (Diane) Herbel, Jake (Dariel) Blevins, Jon and Jennifer McIntire, and Jesse and Nikki Huntington; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dr. Robert McIntire of Walnut.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Caleb McIntire.
