Wayne Hartsook

Wayne Hartsook, 89, of Creston died Monday, July 30, 2018, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs and the Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Wayne Noel Hartsook, son of Ralph S. Hartsook and Elsie M. (Capps) Hartsook, was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Adair County. He grew up in the Afton area, and graduated from Afton High School in 1947.

On July 4, 1949, Wayne married Adah Joan Cheers in Osceola. They lived and farmed in Adair and Union counties. Wayne retired when they sold the farm in 1999.

Wayne was a member of the Union County Fair Board for 21 years, was president of Afton Creamery and also served on Union County Extension Council.

Wayne is survived by his wife Joan Hartsook of Creston; children, Joyce (Fred) Franklin of Creston, Gary (Polly) Hartsook of Shannon City, Carol (Dave) Higgason Wagner of Del Norte, Colorado, Larry (Denise) Hartsook of Osceola, Lori (John) Morris of Minot, North Dakota, Holly (Roger) Mace of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Diane (Jeff) Sorrells of Macksburg; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and five brothers.
