Connie Baker, 72, of Creston died Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr.
A memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Rev. Ken Halbur will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, west of Creston. Visitation with family present will be one hour prior to Mass from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church basement. Memorials can be given to Creston Area Food Pantry Inc. in Creston. Connie Jean (Lynam) Baker, daughter of Velma Cleora (Nash) Price and Cloyd Olathe Lynam, was born Oct. 19, 1945, in Creston. She graduated from Creston High School in 1963.
On June 22, 1963, Connie married Robert M. Baker at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Afton. They lived and worked in Creston all of their married life. Connie was a daycare provider in her home in the 1970s. She then worked for Bunn-O-Matic in Creston, starting with the company the day they opened until retiring in 2010. Connie also owned and operated Mulberry House Framing. Bob died in 2011. After a broken hip in February 2012 and her health continuing to decline, she moved to an area nursing home.
Connie was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston, Catholic Daughters of America and Lake Shore Country Club of Afton.
Connie is survived by her son David (Pam) Baker of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Bobbi (Lyle) Maynes of Corning; grandchildren, Rebecca (Blake) Marriott of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Elizabeth (Manny) Zalava of Villisca, Montgomery Maynes of Omaha, Nebraska, Kennedi (Ethan) Cretsinger of Coon Rapids and Chase Maynes of Lenox; great-grandchildren, Eva and Sadie Marriott, Adrian and Noah Zalava and Liam Cretsinger; sister Susie Miller of Creston and a host of other relatives and good friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, daughter Julie Ann Baker and brothers, Russell, Wayne, Dean and Darwin Lynam.
