Jared Daniel Reha, 43, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Friday, May 18, at his home. Born on Aug. 3, 1974, Jared grew up in Creston, and spent most of his adult life in central Iowa before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2014. Jared’s death brought his hard-fought battle with addiction and mental illness to an end. He was a wonderful son, brother, father and friend. His family is devastated and broken-hearted, but grateful that he is now in the arms of his heavenly Father and free from his pain and suffering.
Jared loved being a father to his daughter and son. He could often be found tossing a ball back and forth with them outdoors. Jared was an avid history buff, enjoyed old movies and country music. He was known for his sense of humor and had a mischievous smile that lit up the room. Jared loved cheering on his favorite sports teams: the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa State Cyclones. Family gatherings were full of playful banter among Jared and his brothers, and he was a favorite uncle who liked to goof around with his nieces and nephews.
Jared is survived by his children, Taylor and Kaleb Reha; his parents, Con (Diane) Reha and Judy Reha (Larry Angaran); his brothers Dusty (Monica) Reha, Derek Reha, Jordy Reha and Bo (Nicole) Fuller; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Ruthe Reha and Brad and Lois Boyer; his aunt Pat Paxson and his uncles, Dennis and Bob Reha.
The family will greet visitors during a celebration of Jared’s life from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at The Lobby, 301 W. Adams St., in Creston. A memorial service will begin at 3:30 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for Jared’s children. Contributions can be sent to the Jared Reha Memorial, 2928 S. 28th St., Lincoln, NE 68502.
