Gary Jackson, 68, of Creston died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at his home in Creston.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston. The Rev. Tony Thurston will officiate. Gary William Jackson, son of John William and Ferne Elizabeth (Ambrose) Jackson, was born March 28, 1950, in Creston. Gary was raised in Creston and educated in Creston public schools, graduating from Creston High School with the class of 1969. Gary began working while in high school at Hy-Vee. Following graduation, he continued working for Hy-Vee, until deciding to attend Southwestern Community College. Gary graduated from SWCC and gained employment at Wellman Dynamics.

On Aug. 9, 1974, Gary married Joanie Kay Greenbeck. The couple later divorced. Gary worked for Wellman’s for more than 20 years as an X-ray technician, retiring in 1997 due to failing health.

Gary is survived by his sons, Jason Jackson of Adair (friend Annie Jackson of Casey) and Jeremiah (Rochelle) Jackson of Truro; daughter Tracy (Richard) Gray of Winterset; grandchildren, Morgan Jackson, Christian Groumoutis, Mikayla Jackson, Myranda Jackson, Devon Jackson, Remington Jackson, Miley Jackson and Cadin Jackson; brother Harold Jackson of Winterset; sister Karen Herr of Afton; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother Albert Earl “Sonny” Jackson; sisters-in-law, Tilley and Harriett Jackson; brother-in-law Pat Herr; and ex-wife and mother of his children, Joanie Epperson.
