Janice Thompson, 78, of Bridgewater died Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with interment in Garner Cemetery in Bridgewater. A luncheon was held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery. The Rev. Steven Broers officiated the service. Open visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the church with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Janice Thompson memorial fund to be determined later. Janice Lea (Bochart) Thompson, daughter of Garold and Mabel (Jensen) Bochart, was born March 6, 1940, in Dexter. She attended Grove No. 7 and Jackson No. 8, and graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1958.

On Feb. 14, 1960, she married Lloyd (Doc) Thompson. Doc and Janice lived in and around Bridgewater throughout their 58 years of marriage. In 1990, they moved off the farm and returned to Bridgewater.

Janice began working for First National Bank in Fontanelle following graduation, and retired in 2000 after 42 years of service.

She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, taught Sunday school for several years, served on altar guild and was a member of Women of the Church. She also was active with the Bridgewater Betterment Club, and served as treasurer and baked pies for Bridgewater Café. She was also a hospice volunteer.

Janice is survived by her husband Doc Thompson; children, Todd (Amy) Thompson of Bridgewater, Tammy (Roger) Jensen of Fontanelle, and Tom (Kathy) Thompson of Fontanelle; grandchildren, Jacob (Danie) Thompson, Kristyn (Clay) Mercer, Jeff Thompson (Ashley Davis), Melissa Vorrie (Derek), Matt Jensen, Brett (Anna) Thompson and Kyle (Sara) Thompson; four great-grandchildren; sister Myrna (Dwight) Hawley of Stuart; sister-in-Law Donna Bochart of Rockville, Nebraska; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Bochart and Junior Bochart; niece Diane Jessen and nephew Randy Bochart.
