Michael Tonelli, 60, of Thayer died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A sharing time will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., in Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family. Michael Angelo Tonelli, son of Angelo Tonelli and Sally (Rose) Tonelli, was born Aug. 5, 1957, in Des Moines. He was educated in Des Moines schools. He lived and worked in Arizona for a short time doing auto body repair and also concrete and construction work.
On Dec. 18, 1982, Michael married Cindy Lee Crispin in Des Moines. After marrying, they lived in Des Moines briefly, before moving to Thayer in 1983. In Thayer, he operated his auto body repair business, Mike’s Auto Body, out of his home. Michael and Cindy later divorced.
Michael is survived by his daughter Jenny (Jeff) Veitz of Creston; son Mike (Samantha) Tonelli of Afton; father Angelo (Dana) Tonelli of Waukee; grandchildren, McKenna and Grayson Tonelli and Payton and Riley Veitz; brothers, Todd Tonelli (significant other Amy Elder) of Booneville and Dante Tonelli of Chicago, Illinois; sisters, Teresa (Mike) Ontiveroz of Chicago, Illinois, and Trisha Tonelli of Johnston; and former wife Cindy Crispin of Afton.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother.
