Charles Bittner, 73, of Creston died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Greater Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. The Rev. Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. Memorials are to be determined. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Charles Lyle Bittner, son of Edward T. Bittner and Delma Mae (Ambrose) Bittner, was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Union County. He attended Creston Community Schools.
On Nov. 21, 1978, Charles married Ruth Anne Perrin in Brooks. They settled in the Creston area. Charles has been a lifelong resident of Union County, south of Creston. Charles worked as the janitor at Corning United Methodist Church, as well as farmed with his father for many years.
Charles is a member of First Baptist Church in Creston.
Charles is survived by his son Charles E. Bittner of Des Moines, brother Randall (Linda) Bittner of St. Charles and three grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Melissa Ann Bittner and infant sister Linda Bittner.
