Dennis Earl Stowell, 62, of Tama passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, 209 E. Seventh St., in Tama with Pastor Harlan Nuss officiating. Interment followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Dennis was born May 7, 1955, in Greenfield, the son of Kenneth and Lola (Campbell) Stowell. He graduated from Greenfield High School.
On Aug. 5, 1977, he married Denise Gruber. They were later divorced.
Dennis was employed at Amwood Homes in Toledo.
He liked to do puzzles and Sudoku. He enjoyed woodworking and playing with his grandkids. Dennis loved being in plays and musicals, and was especially proud of being the tuba player in Cold Turkey. He had parts in Whistle Stop Players in Conrad, Ingersoll Dinner Theatre in Des Moines and the Playhouse Theatres in Marshalltown and Waterloo.
Survivors include his children, Dustin (Jen) Stowell of Deep River, Devin (Aurora) Stowell of Laurel and Deidra (Cory) Rankin of Pella; his grandchildren, Marley, Tinsley and Kapri Stowell, Aurora, Amira and Royce Rankin, and Jessica, Kara and Levi Nachazel; his mother Lola Stowell of Greenfield; his significant other Karla Nachazel of Tama; Karla’s son, Chris (Amy) Nachazel of Tama; two sisters, Cheryl (Phil) Cannon of Greenfield and Bonnie Wichhart of Polk City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth and brother-in-law Bill Wichhart.
Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Cancer Research Center or Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown.
