Dennis Stormer, 66, of Corning died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at his home in rural Adams County.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 701 Seventh St., in Corning. The Rev. Lauri Greenlee will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Corning American Legion, OURCQ Post No. 117. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family or Mt. Zion Cemetery for the directory. Dennis Eugene Stormer, son of Maurice Eugene and Iylene Kathryn (Schaaf) Stormer, was born Dec. 24, 1951, at the Atlantic Hospital in Atlantic. His family lived in Cass County and moved to Adams County in 1958. Dennis attended school in Prescott, and graduated with the class of 1970. He took welding and mechanic classes at Southwestern Community College in Creston. Dennis served his country as a member of the Iowa National Guard from 1970 to 1976.

On Dec. 14, 1980, Dennis married Carolyn Sue Eggleston at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning. Dennis was a lifelong farmer raising hogs, cattle, corn and soybeans.

Dennis was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Adams County Cattleman’s Association and Farm Bureau.

Dennis is survived by his wife Carolyn; children, David (Betsy) Stormer of Corning, Denise (Thomas) Puffer of Hitchcock, South Dakota, and Carrie (Jared) Jones of Emerson; grandchildren, Dylan and Dayna Stormer, Samuel and David Puffer, Cole Jones and a baby girl on the way; sister Patricia (Mike) Yearington of Corning; brother-in-law Jim (Cathy) Eggleston of Prescott; sister-in-law Mary Eggleston (Richard) Lister of Red Oak; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Iylene; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Almeda Eggleston; and brother-in-law Danny Eggleston.
