Frederick Dean Jackson, 90, of Osceola died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Charlie Coffey officiating. Visitation was 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, with family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment followed in Hebron Cemetery near Weldon. Frederick Dean Jackson, son of Joshua Edward Jackson and Nellie Marie (Kennedy) Jackson, was born Aug. 25, 1927, in Polk County. Bud attended Weldon School. He enlisted in U.S. Army on Oct. 30, 1945. He trained at Fort Snelling in Minnesota and served as military police in Korea during peace time.
On Dec. 24, 1950, Bud married Wanda Elaine Fortune in Weldon. He was a farmer and also worked at Armstrong Tire in Des Moines.
Bud was a member of the Sew and Sew Club and Smyrna Friends Church.
Fred is survived by his grandchildren, Kristina (Scott) Harris of Creston, Shawn Jackson of Weldon, Donny Jackson of Creston and Krystle (Chuck) Taylor of Creston; great-grandchildren, Denver, Duncan, Mason and Evvan Jackson, Taylor, Austin and Luetta Seaton, Terrance, Isaiah, Madison, Dakota and Brittany Taylor, Joshua, Audrey, Diedrick and Olivia Harris, all of Creston; daughter-in-law Marie Jackson of Grand River; sister Helen Hellman of Michigan; brother Don (Kay) Jackson of Walled Lake, Michigan; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Joshua and Nellie Jackson; wife Wanda Elaine Jackson; sons, Dennis, Danny and Terry Jackson; brothers, Ike, Dick, June, Robert, George and Jon Jackson; sister Harriet Jackson and infant grandson Christopher Jackson.
