Megan Marie Sherwood was born April 12, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, one of five children born to Edwin Joseph Sherwood and Betty Lail (Owen) Sherwood. She grew up in the Chicago area attending school, graduating from Evanston Township High School with the class of 1970. After graduation, she attended University of Northern Colorado and Western State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in education. Her first teaching job was in Lusk, Wyoming, where she met Ken Pollard. The couple were united in marriage in 1977. The couple later moved to California and Colorado, settling in Golden, Colorado, where they were blessed with the birth of Kiley and AJ.

In August 1989, Meg and her two children moved to Iowa, settling in Lenox. She worked for the Area Education Agency (AEA) as a transition coordinator. Throughout Meg's working career, she taught everything from preschool to graduate level courses, specializing in special education. Meg's focus was always with the special needs children. She had such a giving heart and cared for everybody, and gave of herself daily. She possessed the skill to touch each person's life in that "special way" that made them feel truly loved and unique.

Meg was blessed with the birth of three grandsons, Jude, Jameson and Jonah. Throughout her life, she continued to love all of her extended family, treating each of her great-nieces and great-nephews like grandchildren. Meg enjoyed gardening and trusted in God’s plan that everything would work out. Her faith and trust in her Lord and Savior were what carried not only her, but her children throughout life.

Left to cherish Meg’s memory are her two children, Kiley Sherwood-Pollard of Lenox and A.J. Pollard and wife Jenny of Ames; her three grandsons, Jude, Jameson and Jonah Pollard of Ames; her lifelong friend, Ken Pollard of Otis, Colorado; three brothers, Patrick Sherwood and wife Jill of Tiburon, California, Michael Sherwood and wife Emily of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Matthew Sherwood of Las Vegas, Nevada; one aunt, Sherry Harris and husband Wes of Pittsboro, North Carolina; along with many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Meg in death are her parents, Edwin and Betty Sherwood; a sister, Susie Saari; her in-laws, Harold and Genevieve Pollard; and a brother-in-law, Don Pollard.

Meg’s spirit for loving life will be missed and cherished by her family.

May she be at peace in God’s loving care.
