East Union's Olivia Eckels celebrates the end of her senior year of volleyball as an honorable mention all-state selection as handed out by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Eckels' versatility on the attack and in the back row made her a pick alongside fellow Pride of Iowa athlete in Central Decatur's Emma Atwood.
The senior, a Briar Cliff University committ, is the lone CNA area player to earn the honor.
She committed to Briar Cliff at Sunday’s KMA All-Star Volleyball Series. Alyssa Johnson of Mount Ayr, Halee Wallace of Lenox and Sadie Marnin of Nodaway Valley also played in the series.
Eckels hammered home 242 kills and had 226 digs. She also served 269-298 with 27 aces for the 19-15 Eagles.
For the Bluegrass Conference, Lamoni's Grace Martin was also a Class 1A honorable mention pick.
