Becky Caldwell, 87, of Redding died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at Mount Ayr Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Ed Shields will officiate the service. Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 2 to 3 p.m. service time Saturday. Burial will be in Redding Cemetery. Rebecca “Becky” Beth Montgomery, daughter of Fred Montgomery and Flora (Faubion) Montgomery, was born Aug. 16, 1930, in Huntsville, Arkansas. Becky was educated in Alabam, Arkansas.
On Aug. 25, 1946, Becky married Jack Keith Caldwell in San Francisco, California. Throughout their early years, Becky and Jack lived in Arkansas, Kansas City, Houston, Texas, and eventually ended up on a farm north of Redding. Becky worked various jobs throughout the years. Working with Velda Routh, they organized and taught her special needs daughter, Mary, and other special needs children in the community, as there was no schooling available at that time. In 1976, Becky and Jack opened Caldwell’s Restaurant and Lounge, which they operated for seven years before retiring.
Becky was involved in the organization of Ringgold County Supportive Services and served on the board for 15 years. Becky served two terms as the first female mayor of Delphos. Becky was an active member of Hickory Grove Advent Church.
Becky is survived by her children, Geraldine Uresk, Steve (Janice) Caldwell and Karen (Randy) Taylor; grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Jason Uresk, Dia Uresk, Kenny (Chrissy) Caldwell, Barrett (Jamie) Thompson, Cassandra Thiele, Lynne (Bobby) Gourley, Jacob (Rose) Caldwell, Stasia (Nathan) Nickle, Andrea (Rusty) Schuitema and Nick Taylor; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack; daughter Mary; sisters, Carol Baker, Bonnie Ahern and Louise Buscaglia and grandson Robert Taylor.
