Betty Keefer, 93, of Papillion, Nebraska, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at Hillcrest Country Estates in Papillion, Nebraska.

Private graveside services will be Monday, Aug. 28, at Graceland Cemetery in Creston with the Rev. Jodi Rushing officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of donor's choice in Betty's name. Online condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Betty Jean Keefer, daughter of James ‘Blaine’ and Maude ‘Edrie’ (Anderson) Keefer, was born March 14, 1924, in Creston. She attended Creston Public Schools through her junior year. Betty moved with her parents to Council Bluffs in November 1941 and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. Betty entered the Jennie Edmundson Hospital School of Nursing in the fall of 1942, graduating in September 1945. She spent the last six months of her training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.

Betty worked at Jennie Edmundson Hospital for four years before working with Bluffs Surgical Association P.C. as office nurse for 39 years. She retired in July 1988 and moved back to Creston.

Betty was a member of First United Methodist Church, Women’s Club, Jennie Edmundson Hospital Nursing Alumni Association and a lifelong member of Greater Regional Hospital Auxiliary of Creston.

Betty is survived by her nephew Larry (Frances) Thompson of Bellevue, Nebraska, and other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Blaine and Edrie; sister Maxine Thompson of Creston and nephew Richard Thompson of Strasburg, Colorado.
