John “Jack” Davis, 76, of Orient died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

John D. “Jack” Davis, son of Howard Earl Davis and Emma Marie (Murray), was born Feb. 2, 1940, in rural Corning. He was educated in the Orient schools.
On Feb. 28, 1959, Jack married Sheryl “Jane” Walters in Creston. They lived in Orient most of their married life. Jack was a conductor and switch foreman on Burlington Northern Railroad for 42 years, until retiring in 2001.
Jack is survived by his wife Jane; children, Dan Davis of Orient, Salli Davis of Creston, Annie Konkler of Creston, Tony (Stacie) Davis of Greenfield, Jack Davis of Creston and Polli (Kelly) Critz of Orient; brother Alfred (Neoma) Davis of Creston; sister Pat Reeves of Des Moines; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and his dog Willie.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Davis, father-in-law Web Walters and step-father-in-law Calvin (Minnie) Claiser.
