John Rooker, 66, of Creston died Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. Mary O'Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Open visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Charles John Rooker, son of Leland Raymond Rooker and Pearl Marie Stougard, was born April 10, 1949, in Jefferson. He attended elementary school in Des Moines and high school in Jefferson. He graduated from Southwestern Community College and Northwest Missouri State with a degree in business and accounting.

On Oct. 15, 2005, John married Sandra K. Faust in Creston. He was self-employed with Standard Gas Station in Creston before going to work for Earl May in 1981, retiring in September 2005. John was an honorary member of Creston FFA and helped plant trees with the FFA Trees Forever grant.

John is survived by his wife Sandra Rooker of Creston; children, Donna Stone of Sterling, Illinois, Darrin (Laura) Rooker of Shenandoah, J.R. Rooker of Des Moines, Jessica Rooker of Des Moines and Jennifer (Aaron) Jackson of Carlisle; brother Dave (Shirley) Rooker of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Don Thompson of Walnut Grove, Missouri, and Jim (Sandy) Faust of Rising Sun, Indiana; sister-in-law Selma Rooker of Weatherville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Rick and Nathan Stone, Kathryn, Kinsee and Elizabeth Rooker, Katelynn Langford, Brayden and Ashleigh Wright, Christina, April and Ashley Jackson, and Cortney and Derek Gross; great-granddaughters, Gabbie and Lily Stone; great-grandson Titus Hilgerson; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Norm Rooker; sisters, Margery Shockley and Louise Thompson; nephew; niece; father and mother in-law, George and Lucille Faust; grandson Daniel Stone; great-grandson Colton Stone and son- and daughter in-law Nathan and Kim Gross.
